Peter Sykes

 
 

Australian born singer/songwriter, Peter Sykes plays guitar, bass, ukulele, dobro, slide guitar and mandolin. He is also the founder and Director of the Napa School of Music. Opened in 2005, the school provides private music instruction for around 400 students in Napa, California.


After playing in Australia in The Cutters with Phil Buckle (Southern Sons) and Major Minor with Nicky Bomba (John Butler Trio) in 1987 Peter moved to Los Angeles. During the late 80’s and early 90’s, Peter played and recorded with a number of artists including Michael Steele (The Bangles) and Vikki Moss (St. Elmo’s Fire).


In 1990 Peter co-wrote and recorded the theme and incidental music for 64 episodes of the Fox TV show, Tribes and appeared in 2 episodes.


More recently Peter wrote music for the documentary “Harvest:Napa-Sonoma”, a documentary about the wine industry in the Napa and Sonoma valleys produced by Plum TV.


Peter writes and performs music in many genres including rock, blues, country and pop.


He is currently performing in Terry Bradford’s band (Star Search Male Contestant Champion-1990) and writing music for various projects.
